          I have to ask every podiatrist and other health care professional the following question: If there is a suspicious foot lesion why not biopsy it? I also have to ask one more question. Isn't it important  a podiatric specimen to be seen by a dermatopathologist? I only heard good things about Bako Pathology services and they were recommended to me by a podiatrist who was one of my teachers. Regarding foot dermatology, please
understand the importance of taking a biopsy of a suspicious foot lesion. While the biopsy is being taken
why not have the patient listen to some fictional podiatry music? Please remember that various foot lesions may be one of the first signs of systemic disease that need to be referred out to a medical
doctor.

Sometimes ointment is useful for some of my patient's
foot problems. Ointments can cause the bottom of feet to become slippery
so I generally tell some my patients to use only a little ointment and to wear stockings. If the skin on a foot becomes cracked this could sometimes lead to foot infections.

   IT IS IMPORTANT TO SEE A PODIATRIST BEFORE
GETTING ANY CUSTOM MOLDED ORTHOTIC.
    A PODIATRIST CAN GENERALLY PERFORM A BIOMECHANICAL EXAM AND GAIT ANALYSIS AND PRESCRIBE A CUSTOM MOLDED FOOT ORTHOTIC. BY TAKING A CAST OF THE FOOT IN IT'S OPTIMUM POSITION AND PRESCRIBING THE PROPPER ORTHOTICS NEEDED IS AN ATTEMPT TO TRY TO TREAT VARIOUS FOOT PROBLEMS. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES.  SOMETIMES ORTHOTICS CAN BE VERY BENEFICIAL WHEN PRESCRIBED AND CASTED BY A PODIATRIST. FOR EXAMPLE I USED AN ORTHOTIC THAT WAS CALLED THE STJ HEEL SPUR SPECIAL FOR HEEL PAIN AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. SOMETIMES ORTHOTICS DO NOT WORK.
